Robert Eugene Rowell

Robert (Gene) Rowell passed away peacefully at home Friday, 08/28/2020, surrounded by his family. Gene was born in Corcoran, CA in November 1934. He spent his childhood between Rogue River, OR and Bakersfield, CA attending Beardsley School District as a boy. Gene shared a happy and active life with his wife Sharon in Bakersfield and was a fun dad.

Gene had a long career in the oilfields of Kern County. He worked for many different companies but spent most of his time with Lunn Production Services where he was a field supervisor.

Gene enjoyed watching football and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He loved spending weekends with his family boating at the lake and teaching kids to waterski. As the kids grew his passion changed to fishing, whether it was on a Charter boat out of Morro Bay in the deep waters with friends or in solitude at the lake, he loved to fish. Gene had an entertaining soul and loved to make people laugh and could always bring a smile to the face of someone in need of one.

Gene is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon, 2 sons, Clifton and daughter in law, Matty, Jeremy and daughter in law Tami, and his daughter Dawnett, 11 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. 

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ahnawake and Teresa and all the nursing staff at Optima Hospice for their compassion and the loving care provided to our dad. 

The family will be holding private services.
