On Monday September 9th, 2019, Gale Eugene Crowell JR. loving father of 10 children and grandfather of 5, passed away at the age of 64, to a short battle with cancer. Gale was born on February 9th, 1955 in Saint Louis Missouri to Gale and Barbara Crowell. He grew up in Jacksonville Florida and went to N.B. Forrest High School. In 1973 he joined the United States Army. During his time in the Army he met Patricia McCartney and they were married in 1977. In December of 1979 Gale was honorably discharged from the Army. In 1981 Gale and Patricia moved to Bakersfield, California where he became a truck driver. He worked for Schwebel Petroleum for over 20 years before retiring and returning to Florida to care for his mother.
Gale loved hot rods, muscle cars, and going to the races. He was a skilled mechanic and loved working on cars with his sons, rebuilding motors for their Camaros and racing them at Famoso Raceway. He also loved baseball and coaching his sons. He coached little league at Northwest and Southwest Baseball in Bakersfield for 10 years.
He is Survived by his children, Aaron Crowell (Amber Hemingway), Kenneth Crowell (Kaci Crowell), Adam Crowell (Danielle Soberano), Elizabeth “Rose” Evans (Jesse Evans), Benjamin Crowell, Sarah Crowell, Phillip Crowell, Eric Crowell, Nicole Crowell, and Bethany Crowell. His Grandchildren Carson, Makenzie, Owen, Avery, and Evan. His sister Helen Stilwell and brother David Crowell.He is preceded in death by his parents Gale Crowell and Barbara Crowell-Meeks.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 23rd, 2019 at Bakersfield National Cemetery at 12:30pm. 30338 E Bear Mountain Blvd, Arvin CA 93203.
