Alan Hugh Henry
Alan Henry was born on February 19, 1930 to parents Edgar Henry and Ruby Clark in Bristol, Connecticut. Bettie Henry was born on November 25, 1934 to parents Earl Briley and Mattie Chisenhall in Wichita, Kansas. They died Monday, August 15, 2016 on Highway 178 in Lake Isabella, CA.
Al and Bettie were married October 21, 1950 in Wichita, Kansas. He worked as a machinist at Northrop in Hawthorne, CA for more than forty years. Bettie worked in management at J.C. Penney in Hawthorne, CA and later in Culver City, CA. They retired in 1991 and relocated to Wofford Heights, CA. Bettie and Al were active members of the Lake Isabella community. Bettie was a weight recorder for TOPS for over fifteen years and a Red Hat Vice Queen for more six years. Al was active in the local astronomy club and volunteered in the boys’ correctional facility in Kernville. Al was passionate about his birds and squirrels.
Their daughter, Deborah Doubledee, was born on June 27, 1953 in Santa Monica, CA. She died on August 15, 2016, in the same accident as her parents.
Al and Bettie are survived by three sons: Steven (Tom), Brian (Juanita), and David (Melody); grandchildren Rebecca (Ravi), Sean (Sarah), Eruch, and Stevie; and great grandchildren Brian and Keira. Al is survived by sisters Lola and Louise, and brother Paul (Kay). Debbie is survived by daughter Rebecca and her dogs Daisy & Fiona. Al, Bettie and Debbie are survived by an abundance of family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Al, Bettie, and Debbie will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Faith Community Church, 20 W. Panorama Drive, Wofford Heights, CA 93285. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Al and Bettie’s memory to Pregnancy Resource of the Kern River Valley, PO Box 3015, Lake Isabella, CA 93240.
